Dry Mango Powder (also known as Amchur powder) is a very sour and tangy spice made from green mangos that have been dried and powdered. It is used to add sourness to recipes, much like one would use vinegar or lemon juice. Aamchur is commonly used for flavouring curries, chutneys, soups and marinades. It imparts a good flavour to kebabs and barbecued items. Good quality amchur is finely ground powder with somewhat fibrous texture.Dry Mango Powder could be a good substitute for a number of spices and ingredients including tamarind paste, pomegranate seeds, lime juice pomegranate powder, hibiscus powder and sumac ground, lemon peel powder, pumpkin powder.
